El pasado viernes 15 de enero se celebró la LII Olimpiada Matemática Española (fase de Andalucía) en la Facultad de Ciencias de la UCA en Puerto Real. Como representación de El Centro Inglés asistió nuestro alumno de 2º Bachillerato de Ciencias, Juan Carlos Villanueva Quirós, acompañado de la profesora Doña María Gestoso.
La prueba consistió en la resolución de 6 problemas durante dos sesiones de tres horas y media cada una. La de la mañana, de 9 a 13h y la de la tarde, de 16 a 19,30h.
Acudieron un total de 47 alumnos de toda la provincia, mayoritariamente de Bachillerato.
La organización los invitó a almorzar en la propia facultad.
Resultó una experiencia gratificante pero sobre todo muy didáctica.
¡NO TODOS LOS DÍAS PODEMOS DEDICAR SIETE HORAS A PENSAR EN MATEMÁTICAS!
The LII Spanish Mathematics Olympics (Andalucia phase) took place last Friday 15th of January at the UCA Sciences Faculty in Puerto Real. Our Upper Sixth From in Sciences pupil Juan Carlos Villanueva Quirós attended representing The English Centre, accompanied by the teacher Doña María Gestoso.
The test entailed the resolution of 6 problems within two three and a half hour sessions. The morning one, from 9:00am to 1:00pm and the afternoon one from 4:00pm to 7:30pm.
A total of 47 pupils from all around the region attended, most of them from Sixth form.
The organisation invited us to lunch within the faculty premises.
It was a very rewarding experience, and above all educational.
IT’S NOT EVERY DAY WE CAN DEDICATE SEVEN HOURS TO THINK MATHEMATICS!
