La visita ha durado 2.45 minutos y nos han enseñado las cuatro grandes áreas temáticas del Observatorio, Geofísica, Efemérides, Hora y Astronomía. El Observatorio nació a mediados del siglo 18 en Cádiz y se cambió a su actual localización a finales de ese mismo siglo. Estudian las posiciones de las estrellas y los astros, el geomagnetismo, la geodesia, la meteorología y la sismología; son los responsables de custodiar y difundir la hora oficial de España, producen el almanaque náutico anual y además poseen una colección magnifica de instrumentos ópticos y de medición, a la vez que tienen una Biblioteca de casi 40000 ejemplares con algunos incunables y volúmenes de Tyco Brahe, Newton, Copernico, Galileo y Kepler.
Los alumnos han escuchado una pedagógica presentación de las funciones del Observatorio y han tenido ocasión de visitar unas instalaciones únicas en el país. Una visita muy recomendable.
The visit lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes and they showed us the four main theme areas of the Observatory; Geophysics, Ephemeris, Time and Astronomy. The Observatory was born mid-18th Century in Cadiz and moved to its current location towards the end of the same century. It studies the position of the stars and the celestial bodies, the geomagnetism, geodesy, meteorology and seismology; they are the ones responsible for the custody and the broadcasting of the official time in Spain, they produce a yearly nautical calendar and they also have a magnificent collection of optical and measurement instruments as well as a Library holding nearly 40000 copies, some of the early print and volumes of Tyco Brahe, Newton, Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler.
Pupils listened to a pedagogical presentation of some of the Observatory uses and had the opportunity to visit these premises, unique in the country. A highly recommended visit.
