Desde el 20 al 23 de febrero, nuestras alumnas elegidas para representar a la Comunidad de Andalucía en el XV Sesión del Programa de Modelo de Parlamento Europeo de la Fundación San Patricio han vivido una experiencia referente a nivel nacional e internacional, reconocida en el ámbito educativo. La alumna Sara Linares abrió la sesión con un discurso del que resaltamos ideas como “ nos han brindado la fantástica oportunidad de estar aquí, representando a cada una de nuestras comunidades…” o “ me siento afortunada de pertenecer a mi colegio, El Centro Inglés, al Puerto de Santa María, a Cádiz y a Andalucía, vértice entre Europa y África, punto de encuentro del Océano Atlántico y el Mar Mediterráneo, madre de tantos hitos monumentales de la Humanidad y patria de Velázquez, Murillo, Picasso, García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Bécquer, Luis Cernuda, Góngora o Juan Ramón Jiménez…”
From the 20th to the 23rd of February, The English Centre pupils chosen to represent the Andalucia region in the San Patricio Foundation Xv Session European Parliament Model Programme have lived an experience of national and international mention, recognised within the educational world. Our pupil, Sara Linares opened the session with a speech, from which we take ideas such as “we have been given the fantastic opportunity of being here, in representation of each and every one of our regions…” or “I feel privileged to be part of my School, The English Centre, to be from El Puerto de Santa Maria, from Cadiz and Andalucia, vertex between Europe and Africa, meeting point for the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, mother to so many monumental milestones of Humanity and homeland of Velázquez, Murillo, Picasso, García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Bécquer, Luis Cernuda, Góngora or Juan Ramón Jiménez….”
Sara linares, Paula Hortas, Lucía Naveiro y Carmen Romero han trabajado con espíritu crítico para llegar a la resolución de temas de gran importancia como la política de cohesión y los nacionalismos, la prevención de la utilización del sistema financiero para el blanqueo de capitales, el empleo y crecimiento a través de la política medioambiental y la competitividad y sostenibilidad en el empleo para las personas con discapacidad y el resto de colectivos en riesgo de exclusión. Posteriormente, estas resoluciones han sido llevadas ante la Asamblea General celebrada en el Congreso de los Diputados para su aprobación. Además, han tenido la oportunidad de escuchar al Presidente del Congreso de los Diputados y expresidentes del Parlamento Europeo que les han transmitido la idea de que los jóvenes como ellos, con alta formación e implicados en la sociedad, reflexivos y respetuosos, son el futuro de nuestro país.
Sara Linares, Paula Hortas, Lucía Naveiro y Carmen Romero have worked with a critical mind to reach the resolution of very important issues as the cohesion politics and nationalisms, the prevention of the use of the financial systems for money laundering purposes, employment and growth through environmental policies and the competitiveness and sustainability in the employment of people with special needs and the rest of the groups at risk of exclusion. These resolutions were then taken to the General Assembly held at the Parliament for its approval. They also had the opportunity of listening to the President of the Congress and to ex-members of the European Parliament, who expressed the idea that youngsters, with higher education and involved in society, reflexive and respectful, are in fact the future of our country.
