As part of their topic unit on minibeasts, on Monday 12th May,  Year 3 took a trip to Museo de la Miel y de la abeja in Jerez. Everybody was extremely excited to visit the museum and learn more about amazing bees.

Once we arrived, we were greeted and welcomed. We took a workshop all about bees before we walked deep into the forest to see the beehives. We were all very HOT in our beekeeper uniform but after hearing numerous bees buzzing around we all decided that it was better to be safe than sorry. The children learnt a lot of different interesting facts about bees, for example, did you know that a bee can travel as far as 8km away from it´s hive to find food?

After this we had lunch, got to try some local honey, make our very own honey candle and fill our own jar full of honey to take home ready to be eaten on toast for breakfast the next day! We all learnt a lot and still found time to enjoy the play area and the numerous animals wandering around the farm estate. A great day out full of learning! What we like best.
