Desde Early Years animamos a las familias a participar de forma activa en partes fundamentales del día a día de sus hijos/as: nuestros alumnos. Por este motivo, este curso hemos ampliado el tiempo disponible a las familias para acercarse a clase para leer un cuento o para hablar a los alumnos sobre sus profesiones.
La lectura de cuentos a los pequeños es imperativo, divertido, no solo para los peques, también para las familias. Hemos recibido una gran respuesta por parte de los padres, y muchos han venido a compartir un rato con la clase: cuentos, música, baile, disfraces…,todo tipo de cuentos y maneras de contarlos, lo cual enriquece nuestro mundo.
- El hábito lector es imprescindible para realizarse personal y socialmente.
- Los cuentos estimulan la fantasía, la sensibilidad, la memoria y la expresión.
- Ayudan a desarrollar el lenguaje, ampliando vocabulario, modelos expresivos nuevos y disipando dudas de construcción gramatical, además de despertar el intelecto.
- Los niños aprenden a escuchar con atención y a ser pacientes, esencial para el aprendizaje.
- Los cuentos mejoran el conocimiento espacio-temporal (dónde y cuándo sucede, qué ocurre antes y qué después, orden de los personajes…).
- Fomentan la empatía o capacidad de ponerse en lugar del otro.
- Transmiten valores, pilar de nuestro aprendizaje como ciudadanos del mundo.
- Enseñan a identificar emociones.
- El niño se identifica con personajes y situaciones de las historias, lo cual le ayuda a afrontar retos y miedos con una visión más amplia. Asimismo, le facilita la resolución de problemas.
- Todo niño desea la atención de sus padres y pasar tiempo con ellos, y el rato de contar un cuento incrementa la comunicación y la confianza entre ambos, lo que a la larga también mejora la autoestima del pequeño.
Sorprende ver cuántos alumnos no saben a qué se dedican los padres. Cuando les preguntamos muchos contestan: “al trabajo, a su oficina, a arreglar cosas, a hablar con gente….”
Acerquemos nuestras profesiones a nuestros alumnos, intentemos que entiendan el valor de todas las profesiones para nuestra sociedad, y esto se logra con la ayuda de las familias. De nuevo agradecemos la participación en este área y, ¡seguimos animando a participar!
The Early Years Department encourages families to take active part in essential parts of their children, our pupils, day to day in school life. For this reason, this year we have extended the time available for parents to come to class to read a story or to talk to the pupils about their professions.
Reading stories to our younger ones is imperative, fun, not only for the little ones, but also for the families. We have received great response from the families, and many have come to share a while with the class; stories, dance, costumes….all types of stories and ways of telling them, very enriching!
1) A good reading habit is indispensable to accomplish personal and social goals.
2) Stories stimulate fantasy, sensibility, memory and expression.
3) They help language development, enhancing vocabulary, new expressions and dissipate doubts regarding gramma, as well as awakening intellect.
4) Children learn to listen attentively and to be patient, essential aspect for learning.
5) Stories improve special and time awareness (where and when this occur, what happens first and later, the order of appearance of the characters…)
6) They foment empathy and the ability of putting oneself in someone else’s shoes.
7) They teach values, pillar of our learning as citizens of the world.
8) They teach and identify emotions.
9) The child can identify with the characters and situations in the story, which helps them face challenges and fears with more information. It also helps problem solving.
10) Avery child wants their parents’ attention and spending time with them, and story reading time increases communication and trust between them, which, long-term, improves the child’s self-esteem.
It is surprising to learn how many children don’t actually know what their parents’ jobs are. When we ask them, many answer “work, or in the office, or fixes things, or talks to people….”
Let’s bring our professions closes to our children, we want them to understand the importance of all professions for our society, and this can only be achieved with families support. We once again thank you for your participation in this area and we encourage you to continue taking part.
