Introducing children to the jobs done by the people around them (including their families) provide many learning benefits and help children to understand the world around them.
Our Early Years students have been very lucky to find out more about professions with our school visits from families under the banner: “Qué quiero ser de mayor?” (What do I want to be when I grow up?) Everything from how to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and save a life, how to build a house or how to make a hamburger has been covered in these amazing workshops. We have been delighted to see how the families have excelled in making these visits such practical and memorable experiences for the children. Many have brought tools of the trade to help get the students as involved as possible.
As a teaching community, we can immediately see the benefits. We can appreciate how powerful and inspirational these workshops have really been, just by watching how the children have incorporated them into their own play afterwards.
What a magnificent way to build on learning and encourage our students to be a proud part of our ECI community! Many thanks to our families for participating.
