Día 2 de la aventura europea Under the European Stars. Un inicio de día temprano y un largo viaje en autobús nos llevaron a la región de Màtra, en el norte de Hungría. Allí disfrutamos de un paseo en un tren vintage a través del bosque hasta la zona de salida de nuestra primera marcha, un suave ascenso a través de un hermoso bosque de hayas otoñales cubierto de hongos y algunos ciervos. En la parte superior se veía una torre de observación con vistas al bosque.
Por la noche llegamos a nuestro campamento base, un viejo campamento de la era comunista sin lujos y que requería de mucha resiliencia. Fue un día maravilloso en el que conectamos con la naturaleza escuchando los sonidos del bosque y desconectamos del mundo digital.
Mañana nos espera una caminata más larga para escalar el pico más alto de Hungría.
Day 2 of out Under the European adventure. An early start and a long bus journey took us to the Màtra region in the north of Hungary. There we enjoyed a ride on a vintage train through the forest to the start of our first hike, a gentle ascent through beautiful autumnal beech forest covered in fungi and the occasional deer. At the top there was a viewing tower with views over the forest.
In the evening we arrived at out base camp. An old communist era campsite with no frills and plenty of resilience required.
It was a wonderful day connected to nature, listening to the sounds of the forest and disconnecting from the digital world.
Tomorrow we have a longer hike to scale the biggest peak in Hungary.
