The students in Reception and Stage 1 were very excited this Friday to take their chosen book home and start the shared reading with families Dewi’s Books Together. Dewi is helping the pupils appreciate the importance of books:- how we should look after them and what it means to take time out and to relax and enjoy a book with our family. Little by little, we hope to make a contribution to each pupil’s lifelong love of reading.
For our families, this is an opportunity to share an English resource at home once a week. Be it through English or Spanish, this is a great opportunity to put our communication skills (listening, speaking and understanding) into practise and have fun with books in the home environment.
We hope that this will be the first of many literacy initiatives as we grow together on our pupils’ reading journeys.
