Como en años anteriores, hemos realizado nuestro taller de buenos modales en la mesa con los alumnos de Early Years. A través del role play (teatro interactivo) los alumnos pueden vivir situaciones que pueden darse alrededor de la mesa. Estas situaciones nos sirven para analizar y debatir las conductas correctas y hacer hincapié en las acciones que debemos evitar. Hemos trabajado desde tres ambientes diferentes: desde casa, con la colaboración a la hora de poner la mesa; en el cole, insistiendo en las normas básicas de convivencia (cómo sentarnos, cómo coger los cubiertos, cómo pedir las cosas…); y por último también hemos hablado de la importancia de ir a un restaurante y saber cómo comportarnos y tener en cuenta algunas medidas de seguridad. Los alumnos han practicado a través del juego simulando acciones en los diferentes ambientes. En otra sesión hemos reforzado lo aprendido con la exposición de un power point que trabaja los buenos modales con fotos y la elección entre acierto/ error. Entre todos tenemos que conseguir que la hora de la comida sea un tiempo de disfrute y diálogo. Es un momento muy importante en nuestra cultura y como tal debe ser valorado.

As in previous years, we have held our table manners workshop for our Early Years pupils. Through the use of role play (interactive theatre) the pupils were able to experience a range of situations that may occur at the dining table. These situations help us to both analyse and discuss the correct behaviour at the dining table and to also help us to identify habits that must be avoided.
Focusing primarily on three different environments: helping to set the table at home; at school where basic social harmony rules apply (how to sit properly, how to lay out the cutlery, how to ask for things…), and lastly we spoke about the importance of going to a restaurant and knowing how to behave, in addition to taking safety measures into consideration.
By playing games, the pupils could have a go at putting these actions into practice in different settings. In another session, we reinforced what was learnt via a PowerPoint presentation, which included photo illustrations of good manners where the pupils had the opportunity to choose between the right and wrong photo.
It is essential that we all work together in ensuring that dinner time is a time for enjoyment and conversation as it is a very important part of the day in our culture and should therefore be valued.
