Voluntariado Ambiental en la Playa de la Muralla
Nuestro alumnado de 3º ESO ha inaugurado hoy un precioso proyecto que aúna voluntariado, formación y concienciación Medioambiental. La playa de La Muralla ha sido apadrinada por los alumnos de El Centro Inglés, y van a mantenerla limpia todo el año con varias visitas cada curso escolar.
En esta primera visita, los alumnos han limpiado la playa a conciencia, siguiendo un procedimiento establecido y registrando el tipo de residuos y su posible origen. De este modo, los datos recogidos podrán ser analizados posteriormente (lo harán ellos mismos en clases de estadística) y comparados con los de limpiezas posteriores u otras playas.
La actividad ha sido un rotundo éxito. Se han recogido cientos de colillas y de trozos pequeños de plástico (que hubieran engrosado el ya serio problema de los microplásticos en el medio marino) así como otros muchos objetos abandonados en la playa y que han “escapado” de las limpiezas periódicas que allí realiza en Ayuntamiento.
El proyecto ha llamado la atención de los medios, que han mostrado interés por la iniciativa y la han aplaudido… Canal Sur radio y televisión y Diario de Cádiz, así como otros varios medios digitales y emisoras de radio locales han dado cobertura a la actividad.
Esperamos que esta sea la primera de muchas visitas a “nuestra” playa, ya que la actividad ha sido introducida en el curriculum de 3ºESO para que se mantenga en el tiempo como parte de la formación integral en conocimientos y valores por la que nuestro centro lleva tiempo apostando …
Environmental volunteer group La Muralla Beach.
Our Secondary year 3 pupils inaugurated today a lovely project linking volunteer work, training and raising Environmental awareness. The Muralla beach has been sponsored by The English Centre pupils, and they will keep it clean all year by visiting it various times every academic year.
During this first visit, pupils have cleaned it thoroughly, following an established procedure and making a note of all the types of residues and their possible origin. By doing so, the collected data can later be analysed (they will do so themselves in stadistics class) and compared with the forthcoming cleaning visits or with other beaches.
The activity was an absolute success. Hundreds of cigarette buds were collected as well as small pieces of plastic (which could have increased the already serious microplastic problem in the waters) as well as many other objects abandoned on the beach which “escaped” the periodic cleaning carried out by the Town Hall.
This project drew the attention of the media, who has shown interest in the initiative and applaud it…Canal Sur and television and Diario de Cadiz newspaper, as well as other digital media and local radio stations have covered the activity.
We hope this to be the first of many visits to “our” beach now the activity has been included in the Secondary Year 3 Curriculum for it to withstand time as a holistic part of their acquiring of knowledge and the values our school has been working on so long…
