New staff

Sep 23, 2025

🎉 Meet the new team joining our big family! 🎉

Each school year brings new challenges, new goals… and new faces! That’s why we want to give a warm welcome to the newest members of our staff. They are passionate, creative professionals, fully committed to making our school even more special.

👩‍🏫 Ms Giovanna Lechuga – Hello ECI families! My name is Giovanna Lechuga and I’m thrilled to be joining the school community this year as a Year 2 Tutor and Year 2-3 teacher. I grew up in Canada, where I completed my education degree specializing in elementary and middle years. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in diverse and dynamic classrooms. For the past three years, I’ve been living in Spain, and I’m excited to continue my journey here with your children. Outside the classroom, I enjoy painting and drawing, reading, and exploring philosophy. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to support your child’s learning and development.

🧑‍💻 Ms. Jessica Izquierdo – My name is Ms Izquierdo, and I am the Senior PE Teacher here. I have been in education for more than 15 years, and throughout this time, I have had the privilege of combining two of my greatest passions: teaching and sport.

Sports have always been a central part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to practice and compete in many disciplines—swimming, football, basketball, skiing, and even triathlon. Beyond my background in Sports Science, English, Religion, and Education, I am also proud to be a qualified National Swimming Coach.

What I want to share with you today is not only my love for sport, but also the lessons it teaches us. Through sports, we learn that effort is the key to reaching any goal. Success is not just about talent—it is about perseverance, discipline, and the willingness to keep going, even when things are tough.

But beyond effort, sport also helps us develop values that shape who we are: teamwork, respect, resilience, humility in victory, and dignity in defeat. These values go far beyond the playing field; they are essential tools for life.

My hope is that every student here can discover the joy of sport in their own way—not only as a physical activity, but as a journey of growth, character, and achievement.

👩‍🎨 Mr Stewart Watson – Hi I´m Mr Watson, the new junior school P.E teacher in years 2-7. I´m English, from Leeds, which is in the beautiful county of Yorkshire (like Misters Scott and Wallace). Yorkshire is known as God´s own country and is quite similar to Galicia (beautiful scenery, perfect for hiking) and very green (because it rains a lot). I´m really excited to be here, teaching my favourite subject of P.E and sharing the joy of movement, exercise and sport!

🧑‍💻Ms. Malgorzata Zdunska – My name is Malgorzata Zdunska, and I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the ECI community this year!

Originally from Poland, I’ve spent the past few years living and teaching in Indonesia, which has given me a deep appreciation for the richness of international education. Working in such diverse settings has helped me understand and celebrate the beauty of different cultures, languages, and perspectives. Therefore, I’m especially looking forward to learning more about Spanishcultureand working alongside such a vibrant and dedicated team.

I’m passionate about childdevelopment, and I especially love working with youngerstudents. Watching them grow, learn, and discover the world around them is truly inspiring. My goal is to make their learning journey joyful, meaningful, and to help each child reach their fullpotential.

This year, I’ll be teaching English to Year 2 and 3, as well as GP, IT, andValuesI’m also excited to be the Year 2B tutor, and I look forward to building strong connections with both students and families.

I can’t wait to meet you all—see you around the school! 😊

👩‍🏫 Mr David Ashaolu – Hi I’m David Ashaolu, the new ICT Coordinator at ECI. Originally from London, I’ve also lived in Barcelona and Andorra before settling in Jerez with my family. I’m passionate about creative learning and helping students thrive in a digital world. Outside of school, I enjoy staying active and exploring the outdoors with my two young sons.

👩‍🎨 Ms Rocío Novillo – Hi, I´m a New Staff! I´m Ms. Novillo (Rocío), Senior teacher School. I´m a biology and technology teacher and tutor too. I´m excited because this new chapter will allow me to grow as a teacher, as it´s my passion. I studied biology and I love animals and being in the laboratory.

👩‍🏫 Mr Daniel Corrigan – Hi, I’m Dan (Mr Corrigan), I’m from London but I have spent most of my life living abroad, as I lived in France from the age of 11. Among my interests are writing, rugby (hence the new extracurricular sport 😉) and playing the drums. This is my first full year working in ECI, although I have been teaching in TECS since arriving to Spain, and I’m excited for the challenges and adventures of this year!

🧑‍💻 Ms. Elsa Peshku– Hello, my name is Elsa Peshku, and I am honored to be joining the Early Years team. I believe that every child has a unique spark, and my greatest joy as a teacher is creating the safe space where that spark can shine. Through play, imagination, and exploration, I hope to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. I am truly excited to begin this journey together with your children and families.

👩‍🎨 Ms Rebecca Sutcliffe – My name is Rebecca Sutcliffe, and I’m thrilled to be joining the ECI community as the new Head of Identity, as part of the Middle Leadership team.

I was born in West Yorkshire, England, and studied in London but have lived abroad for the last 15 years, first in India and finally settling here in Spain. I live here with my husband and our young daughter — who’s also a proud new member of the ECI family!

For the past 12 years, I’ve been teaching English and Public Speaking—two subjects I’m deeply passionate about. The classroom has always been my happy place: I love building connections with students, helping them find their voice, and watching their confidence grow.

In my new role, I’ll be coordinating many of the big events that bring our school community together—like Founder’s Day, Christmas, Eisteddfod, and Family Day—which means I’ll have the chance to work with students from all across the school. I’m also really happy to still be in the classroom a little, teaching Global Perspectives to Years 8, 10, and 11—a subject that sparks rich discussion and critical thinking.

Outside of school, I’m a big fan of storytelling in all its forms—books, films, photography, theatre—and I’m always up for a good conversation about identity, culture, and what makes us who we are.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and contributing to the vibrant, inclusive spirit that makes ECI so special.

And let us introduce our IC Interns, the classroom support team. They’re fantastic partners for practicing conversation, enhancing language learning, and engaging in daily interactions. They arrive full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to become part of our big family.
