This year the school was awash with colour as The English Centre Eisteddfod was taken on a journey through time to celebrate the work of the Beatles.
Pupils came to the Eisteddfod dressed as the Beatles or in full 60’s costumes and joined in the spirit of the occasion. As well as the costumes there was a surprise performance of Beatles songs by our Staff choir, two murals (one made out of coloured salt), performances of Beatles songs and two themed photo competitions.
The other major theme of this year’s Eisteddfod was poetry with lots of live performance and some excellent original work in the Eisteddfod newspaper.
As always we enjoyed the ceremonial elements of the Eisteddfod with the investiture of the new Head Boy and Head Girl, Alberto Sandín and Claudia Sicre, our Scottish dance, the flower girls, sword of peace and traditional Welsh costumes.
Another highlight of this year’s festival were the matches between pupils, staff, ex-pupils and teachers. What better way of celebrating The English Centre Day than coming together to play sport in the right spirit of the game. To finish the day we had our tea party in Early Years with some excellent performances and delicious cakes and the closing ceremony to send us off on our holidays.
