Carol Concert 2025

Dic 16, 2025

The Carol Concert is one of ECI’s most treasured traditions, blending music, history, and community spirit. Inspired by the service that our Founder Linda Randell experienced during her university days in Oxford, this annual event brings our school together in a celebration of harmony and hope.

For our Upper Sixth students, the evening was especially meaningful as their final rite of passage in Carol Concert history. Many of them stood in the same church five years ago as actors in the nativity or seven years ago as members of the choir. This year, they returned to read the lessons of the Nativity story with poise and reverence—a moment that beautifully closed the circle of their ECI journey.

Under the inspiring direction of our new Choir Director, Ms. Davina Connolly, the ECI Choir delivered a breathtaking performance. This year’s set list blended tradition and festive cheer: beloved classics such as We Three Kings, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and Ding Dong Merrily on High, alongside a beautiful new arrangement that combined What Are You Dreaming Of, Silent Night, and Noche de Paz—a true demonstration of the linguistic unity we celebrate here at ECI. Adding a modern twist, the eighties pop-rock Christmas classic Merry Christmas Everyone made its debut as a brand-new addition to the concert, bringing energy and fun to the finale.

Adding a heartfelt touch, our ECI Parents’ Choir joined the celebration, and the church was filled with warmth and song. Our Year 8 pupils were more enthusiastic than ever—so many wanted to take part that there was hardly room for another shepherd or angel in the church! Their vibrant re-enactment of the Christmas message reminded us all of the joy and wonder of the season.

The Carol Concert remains a testament to the values of ECI: tradition, community, and the celebration of shared experiences. We are already looking forward to next year’s festivities!
